The challenge
BehavioralOS was founded to bring the work of behavioral psychologist Dr. Irv Rubin into the digital age. His "Behavior Minder" relationship assessment consisted of a structured paper-based process designed to help couples identify patterns of behavior and improve communication through objective, non-confrontational analysis.
The founders needed more than a website—they needed a software platform capable of guiding participants through the assessment process, collecting and analyzing responses, generating meaningful reports, and supporting ongoing product demonstrations and business development. At the outset, many aspects of the product's workflow and user experience were still evolving, requiring a platform that could adapt quickly as new ideas emerged.

At the outset, many aspects of the product's workflow and user experience were still evolving, requiring a platform that could adapt quickly as new ideas emerged.
The solution
I selected Drupal 7 as an application framework to accelerate development and provide a flexible foundation for rapid iteration. Rather than building a traditional content-managed website, I developed a custom web application that implemented the behavioral assessment process while leveraging Drupal's user management, content architecture, permissions, and extensibility.
Working closely with Dr. Rubin and Matthew Stone, I translated the paper-based methodology into a digital experience, continually refining the workflow through collaborative discussions, demonstrations, and user feedback. The platform became both the production application and a living prototype, allowing the team to evaluate business ideas, improve the user experience, and demonstrate the product to prospective clients and investors.
As the project evolved, I also served as Director of Web Technology, providing ongoing technical leadership for hosting, infrastructure, architecture, deployment, performance, and long-term product strategy.

The outcomes
BehavioralOS successfully transformed a paper-based assessment process into a modern web application capable of supporting product demonstrations, customer engagement, and ongoing business development. The platform provided the flexibility needed to refine the assessment process, validate business concepts, and evolve the product through multiple iterations while establishing a scalable technical foundation for future growth.
