Why I use it

I don't think of Apache and NGINX as competitors so much as different tools for different environments. For modern enterprise Drupal platforms, I appreciate NGINX's simplicity, performance, and how naturally it integrates with PHP-FPM, reverse proxies, and containerized infrastructure. It has become my preferred choice for new enterprise deployments while still recognizing that Apache remains an excellent fit in many situations.

How I use it

NGINX has become one of the preferred web servers for modern Drupal infrastructure thanks to its performance, efficient resource utilization, and ability to handle large numbers of concurrent requests. It excels as both a web server and reverse proxy, making it well suited for enterprise architectures that incorporate caching layers, load balancing, and containerized deployments.

I've worked with NGINX on enterprise Drupal platforms, including the California Department of Transportation's Drupal modernization project, where it served as the front-end web server within a highly available multisite environment. My experience includes configuring virtual hosts, SSL, PHP-FPM integration, reverse proxy behavior, and supporting performance optimization alongside technologies such as Redis and Varnish.

For clients, NGINX provides a fast, reliable foundation capable of supporting modern Drupal applications while scaling efficiently as traffic and infrastructure requirements grow.
