This website is an example of how I can do rapid development and deployment. While on a weekend vacation in the mountains of northern Washington State, I received notice that Spencer Shaw, a long-beloved librarian and professor emeritus of the Information School had passed away. The school wanted to set up a website as fast as possible so that the community could share remembrances and memories of him.
Armed with my laptop and working from the parking lot of a nearby wifi-equipped McDonalds, I set up the web hosting and installed and configured Drupal in record time. I coordinated with the iSchool Communication Manager by phone and email to load the site with various content. We were able to launch quickly and by the following Monday morning, we were starting to publicize the site to the community.
